With the weather forecast not good and a shower in the morning it looked that it was going to be a wet one. However, thankfully the rain did stay away until late afternoon and so didn't spoil a great day.
Yet again this year the theme provided ample opportunity for bright and colourful floats and fancy dress. Although we all know, some people don’t need much of an excuse to dress up.
As usual it was an early start for the volunteers who had been busy getting the Rec ready and by 1:30 when the procession met on Parc y Pro, all was set. This year the procession was led by Adamant New Orleans Jazz Brass Band, followed by the Carnival King and Queen.
Once on the field, there was something for all ages -games and side shows, 5-a-side football, cricket, coconut shy, bouncy castle, roundabout, and a variety of stalls selling such things as plants, books, cards, bottles, skin products, cakes, etc., refreshments included a beer tent, barbecue, teas, coffees, cakes, ice creams and candy floss.
The results were:
|1st||2nd Creigiau Brownies (Loch Ness Monster)|
|3rd||Tregarth Court (Australia)|
|1st||1st Creigiau Rainbows (Globe)|
|2nd||1st Creigiau Brownies (Creigiau Maoris)|
Although we were not fortunate enough to miss the rain , the Carnival is the one event that really brings out the community to support the village. So we would like to thank all for suporroting the event as well as all the volunteers that make the whole thing possible. See you again next year !!!
