We hope that every organisation and many streets and cul de sacs in the village will enter a float – whether on a lorry or on foot – to make the procession extra special. It should be a spectacular occasion!
The 2018 event will be held on Saturday the 30th June where the theme will be ...Heros and Villains.
Whether you’re a budding Batman a wannabe Wonder Woman, an evil Joker or a cruel Catwoman we look forward to seeing you there as your favourite character together with some exciting floats.Children can dress up in imaginative costumes to take part in the Fancy Dress Competition. There will be individual and group prizes for the best fancy dress.
To register your float, please watch out for entry slips in your children’s school bag, or alternatively get in touch.
The procession of floats, headed by the Adamant New Orleans Jazz Brass Band, assembles at 1.00 p.m. at the Parc-y-Fro Green and proceeds around the village to the Recreation field by 2.00 p.m. when the Carnival officially commences, opened by a local celebrity or dignitary. On the field, there is something for all ages – games & side shows, 5-a-side football, target football, archery, coconut shy, bouncy castle, roundabout, and a variety of stalls. A range of refreshments are available including a beer tent, barbecue, teas, coffees, cakes, ice creams & candy floss.
Entry to the Carnival field is by Carnival programme. These are on sale during the weeks leading up to the Carnival and they can also be bought on the gate. We are very grateful to local companies for supporting the carnival by advertising in the programme.
Look out for volunteers who will be selling entry programmes from door-to-door during early June onwards to remind you what treats are in store for you on Carnival Day.
Saturday 23rd June, registration from 10am with races starting at 10.15am at the Recreation Field. Younger children can take part in short sprint races with longer races for the older children. Fun races and will be held for all ages – sack races, three-legged races and egg & spoon races will entertain the young, the old and the parents alike. We hope you can attend this light-hearted event – a great way to start Carnival week.
Come and test yourself against Creigiau's finest brains!!! 8:45 pm on Tuesday 26th at the Creigiau Inn. The quiz will be based upon our 2017 Carnival theme of films. Prizes will be awarded for the main quiz and special spot rounds. All entry fees are kindly donated to the Carnival.
Monday 25th June from 6.30 – 8.00 p.m. in Creigiau Church Hall where the Carnival King & Queen and Attendants will be chosen from names pulled out of a hat.
